Pico Rivera has its own area in the California Department of Insurance's 2026 auto premium survey, so there is a real local number. For a basic 30/60/15 policy, the 48 insurers that priced Pico Rivera had a median of $1,750 a year (about $146 a month). Full coverage had a median of $5,196 a year across 40 insurers. California Capital was the cheapest for both: $1,112 for basic liability and $3,351 for full coverage.

These are survey premiums in effect January 1, 2026, for one driver: single, licensed seven years, clean record, with California's Good Driver Discount built in and no optional discounts. They are not quotes. Your price depends on your own record, car, garaging address and insurer.

Pico Rivera prices by insurer

Coverage Insurers that priced Pico Rivera Cheapest Median Highest
Basic 30/60/15 liability (CDI profile 1122A, 2023 Toyota Camry) 48 $1,112 (California Capital) $1,750 $3,592 (Infinity)
Full coverage, 100/300/50 with $250/$500 deductibles (CDI profile 2522A, 2023 Honda Accord) 40 $3,351 (California Capital) $5,196 $9,096 (Viking Insurance Co. of Wisconsin)

After California Capital, the next cheapest for basic liability were Loya at $1,221 and American National at $1,248. For full coverage they were Wawanesa General, renamed W Insurance in July 2026, at $3,466 and Horace Mann at $3,702. CDI notes that Loya priced $1,000 of medical payments instead of the profile's $2,000.

The spread is the point. The same driver and the same car cost $1,112 with one insurer and $3,592 with another, in the same Pico Rivera survey area. That gap is why a single quote tells you very little.

How Pico Rivera compares with the rest of Southeast LA

Pico Rivera came in below most of its surveyed neighbors for basic liability:

CDI survey area (Los Angeles County) Basic liability median
Pico Rivera $1,750
Norwalk $1,837
Montebello $1,876
South Gate $1,880
Los Angeles - East $1,912

The city of Los Angeles, measured across its 14 survey areas, had a basic median of $2,339. Across all 69 Los Angeles County survey areas, the middle area median was $1,982, so Pico Rivera sits on the cheaper side of the county. It is still above the $1,686 median of California's 30 largest cities.

CDI's survey has no separate area for Whittier or Downey, so this table uses only the neighbors CDI actually priced.

If money is tight: the state low-cost program

California's Low Cost Auto Insurance Program (CLCA) is the state's option for income-eligible drivers with a good record. In Los Angeles County its official calculator lists $448 a year for a driver licensed three or more years, and up to $986 for drivers aged 16 to 18. CLCA uses lower 10/20/3 limits than the standard 30/60/15 minimum, so it protects you less after a serious crash. See CLCA prices in every county.

Before you compare quotes in Pico Rivera

  • Quote with the address where the car is actually parked overnight. Insurers price by garaging location.
  • Keep the drivers, car, limits and deductibles the same on every quote, or the cheapest number may just be thinner coverage.
  • California's minimum is $30,000 for injury to one person, $60,000 per accident and $15,000 for property damage. It does not pay to fix your own car.
  • Ask for the Good Driver Discount if you have been licensed three years with a clean record. Insurers must offer it by law.

QuoteMoto compares 30+ California carriers in one request, and a licensed agent confirms the final price. The quote is free and takes about 5 minutes. For every surveyed city and insurer, see the California car insurance cost index.
